WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE ON THE SKIN?
The colour immediately after the treatment will be stronger brighter and possibly darker than your desired colour. In most cases you do lose approximately 20 – 40% of the intense colour during the healing process within 4-14 days. With full lip colour you can actually lose up to 60% of colour after the healing process, this depends on the colour used, type of skin and if you have followed the home care instructions.

IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
Colour matching can be difficult at times, but the match will be very close to the colour requested. Many things can alter the end result of the colour of the skin including:

  • Pigment
  • Acid
  • Oils in the skin
  • Not following home care instructions

It is recommended that a colour retouch is completed every 2 – 3 years to keep your colour looking good, but this depends on the initial colour implanted.

If you have a history of COLD SORES, fever or sun blisters or any sore on the lips you will have a recurrence after the lip treatment. We recommend that at least 2 weeks before any lip procedure you take a course of Blackmore’s L_Lysine tables. These tables contain Lysine, Amino Acid, together with Zinc and Vitamin C. After the day of your treatment double the dose of Lysine for a period of one week.

Extended sun exposure, using Retin-A and Glycolic acid peels or laser will fade out the colour from all treatments. It is important to inform us at the time of making an appointment.

Sun block is necessary at all times. If having a lip treatment, start conditioning your lips weeks before the treatment with moisturising cream to nourish the skin for easier colour implantation.

The healing time is minimal for all treatments (4-14days) it is hardly noticeable and a small percentage of people do have some swelling, itchiness and tenderness. Work and all other activities can continue immediately. It is only with full lip treatments that the swelling can last up to 24 hours.
